July Inspiration Elevator

Inspiration Elevator

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges our new Inspiration Elevator Blog, here.

This month's challenge is issued by the super talented, Lisa Moen. Here's what she had to say in her very own words:

"I have been thinking lately, that I have only done one layout of my childhood and realized that maybe some day, my kids or grandkids would enjoy looking at a few more pages and learning about my siblings, my parents and I.
So my challenge for you this month is to create a page about a childhood memory of yours. It can be a good, a bad, a funny, a photoless or whatever you choose kind of layout.
Just remember to add journaling to tell the story behind your childhood memory.
Can't wait to see your projects!"

I struggled with this challenge... not because I couldn't remember any of my childhood memories, but because my scrap space is a bit of a tornado and the picture I wanted to scrap to go along with my story was MIA!  But alas, I found it in the nic of time!  So here is my layout that I created:

Yes that cheeky little girl below my Grandpa is me!  This is the only photo I think I have of my two sisters and I with my Grandma and Grandpa at their house! I decided to document my childhood memory of visiting their house, and what I remember! Here is the story:

It is ironic now, that we are living a 10 minute walk from my grandparents house, and the corner store where I use to go to buy my penny candy is the same store my kids will be going to with their pocket change :)  It is also the same store my dad went as a kid to get a soda and some rootbeer floats!

For my layout, I primarily used Echo Parks-Sweet Girl and added some Bella Blvd Chipboard, and some Twine from the Twinery! Some close up shots of my layout:

I hope you will stop by and see what they have created:

I love how you used this whimsical style to feature this loving homey photo of your grandparents. You are such a cutie pie. The banner, tree and colour scheme really seal the deal.
