Inspiration Elevator September Reveal

Inspiration Elevator

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges our new Inspiration Elevator Blog, here.

Our challenge this month comes from the very talented Cathy Harper. Here's what she had to say in her very own words:
"I want to know what inspires you to create. As I was driving home the other day from my trip back to Black Hills, I saw a really cool billboard...clouds, the sun, and a few hearts. I immediately thought how great the design was and how I could transform it into a card or layout.(No, I didn't get a picture of it as it was the week of the annual Sturgis Bike Rally and no way was I pulling off the side of the interstate with all of that crazy traffic.) Even the other day, as I was walking through Target, I saw a couple of cute Baby gift bags that had great design principle that I could use as inspiration to create with too! Then it hit me that this would be a great challenge for my IE teammates. We recently had Sue's challenge where we were inspired by another teammate and lifted their style..but I want to know what else inspires you besides other designers cards and layouts. Are you a Pinterest addict like me? And find great design ideas there or in a magazine with a brilliant ad!? Find something inspires you, pin it or take a photo and create your work from there...you must include a photo of your inspiration and a link (if there is one) with your project for the challenge!"

I have to say I "thought"  this challenge was going to be easy! lol! I was wrong.  Most of the time I have a lot of design team assignements, and most or ALL of my inspiration comes from their products because I really do LOVE them so much! But I wanted to reach deeper! I could think back to a couple of times where I have looked at my kids clothes, and thought... wow I LOVE that! I need to scrapbook that cuteness! More recently I have become a pinterest addict. Yes I love it! When I went on my inspiration board there wasn't much there... Or nothing that really stood out! So then I remembered this quote, that I saw online, and thought why didn't I pin that!?  Most of the time, its because I don't think I will ever need it! Well, I did.... because after three weeks of thinking this was going to be an "easy" challenge, I kept going back to  that quote....

so what inspires me??? Alot of the time LOTs of different things, but most of the time little sayings, picutres that stick out in my mind....so I came up with this awesome quote that reminded me of my daughter " WHY FIT IT WHEN YOU WERE BORN TO STAND OUT"  and I also came across this on pinterest and LOVED the colours that went with it...

So I stuck with what I knew best, my love for BELLA BLVD! The Daily Chevies line was one I haven't had a chance to play with yet and the colours were perfect for it! Here is the layout:

I cut many of the chevron papers up and mixed them in and made sure to add the title on of one of the zig-zags:

I also am love with the feathers right now from Bella Blvd.  When I first got them, I was a  little afraid to use them, but now I love the different texture it gives the layout:

Finally I added some twine in a chevron pattern, because lately a layout doesn't seem to be a a layout without some twine added in there!

I hope you will stop by and see what the  rest of the incredible Inspiration Elevator designers have created:

If you feel inspired to play along with my challenge this month, please share it using the linky tool on our Inspiration Elevator blog and/or our Inspiration Elevator Facebook page. We'd LOVE to see what you made!
Until next time, keep doing what you love.

Jodi, I really empathize with how you find your inspiration and understand that usually it comes from external sources and I LOVE LOVE that you dug deeper. It is the essence of what we want to accomplish at IE. Of course I LIVE for your photos of your daughter and think she is the most darling girl ever. This design really reflects your quote and the chevrons create tons of movement through your design. Thanks for being such and inspiration.

YOu are so fortunate that your daughter doesn't tire of posing for you! You are inspired by your photos of her and created such a darling page around them. I love the texture of the feathers and that you created a journaling spot over them - very neat!
