Inspiration Elevator Monthly Challenge

Photobucket

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and extend ourselves. You can view all of the challenges our Inspiration Elevator Blog, here. We are thrilled to welcome back Audrey Yeager this month as a guest designer. Audrey recently came into ownership of My Scraps & More; More online store, and has graciously offered a prize this month! Read on to find out how you could win!

Our challenge this month comes from the very talented Michelle Hernandez. Here's how she expressed this month's challenge:
"Inspiration Elevator Challenge February- Phoenix Rising.
I'm going through one of the toughest times of my life right now. Huge changes, dashed expectations, embarrassing set backs- it's all overwhelming, all the time. I have the love and support of my family and my health- so it could be worst but still - it sucks.

My challenge for February:
Tell a story visually or through your journaling that speaks to your greatest challenge and most importantly how you dug yourself out. This should be a celebration of your faith, personal resilience and/or creativity. A story you'd like to tell your kids, grandkids or yourself when things get rough. "

As soon as I read this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I knew it was going to be A LOT of photo finding and editing, but this has been the biggest struggle in my life.  Here is the layout I created:

Losing my sister in 2007 has been (and still is) the hardest thing that I have had to deal with.  She was so young, and it seemed so unfair for her to be taken at such a early age. I had a hard time coping, and I still have my ups and downs, but I try to celebrate her life. I healed a lot through scrapbooking, and talking with friends, and families... I hate to say it but as soon as I heard the song Story of my Life by One Direction (ughh! I know)... I immediately thought of Tammy. I saw the video of all the pictures and knew that I was going to create this layout of her life. I am going to have all of it on one 12 X 12 layout, and it will be very special and dear to my heart (about a few weeks later this challenge was given to us, and it was meant to be!)  I LOVE looking at this layout and seeing friends, family, and most of all her smile, and how happy she was.  To say I didn't shed a few tears while making it, but my heart and soul went into this and ever picture that was cut down to 1 inch X 1 Inch... Her story will live on and my kids, and grandkids (one day)... will celebrate how AWESOME she was... and that my friends is how I heal :)

I have a lot of detailed shots for ya too:

I made a BIG pocket in the layout that I am hoping to get friends and family send me msgs to print up and put in there too!  Here is mine:

The entire layout was made with a mix of Jillibean Soup collections! I thought this would be perfect for a quilt-like layout, and gave the layout a country feel.  I actually have 45 photos of here... NEW RECORD by far for me! Thanks for the challenge Michelle! I am so glad that this layout was created!  Now off you go to see more inspiration:

Wow - 45 photos. Using a quilt approach is a beautiful way to pay tribute to your sister - so home-y, comforting, family. Great symbolism. What love you've poured into this, Jodi! Hugs!

Hi Jodi!
Beautiful layout!
I also lost my sister in 2007 June. I think the 5 year anniversary was the hardest. She would've been 40.
Thanks for sharing.

I have to agree with Lisa- I thought it was a digi layout- this is SPECTACULAR! So much work went into this!! WOW! Gorgeous color and layout. The page and your journaling really makes me want to read all about your sister. A sad story but your love and strength and relationship shines through.

This is just stunning and amazing. I am so really speechless. Your page is so beautiful, but what just shows through even more that the embellishments and papers are the love for your sister. All those little photos and moments...this is just a treasure!!! So well done!

Its such as you read my thoughts! You appear to know a lot
approximately this, like you wrote the e-book in it or something.
I think that you just can do with a few p.c.

to force the message house a bit, however instead of that, that is fantastic blog.
A fantastic read. I'll definitely be back.
