A little Winter Bliss with Doodlebug Design

A while back I made this layout and I haven't shared it yet... but thought I would share it before it warms up into spring here!  I used the Frosty Friends collection by Doodlebug Design, and I LOVE the colours in this collection! 

I LOVE how this turned out and that all three of my kids are in the "snow cave"..  We had so much snow this year... I haven't seen this much snow in Niagara since I was a kid! My kids loved it especially when they were able to dig out a cave from the snow ditch!   Here are some close ups:

I took a variety of the tag stickers and linked them together with the purple twine! I loved the look that this created and so simple to do!

At the top right hand corner I added two banners to add interest to the white side of the layout! I layered on top with some doodle-pop snowflakes and added some winter sprinkles!

I layered the photo with a variety of paper from this collection and of course added more twine, stickers and a mini clothespin!

So although I am "sick" of winter.... I really do LOVE this layout! Doodlebug always cheers me up... but I am looking forward to the spring weather!  I also can't wait to get my hands on the Happy Go Lucky Collection by Doodlebug... I am sure after tomorrow's big St. Patricks Day Party in the Daycare I will have lots to scrap about :)

Little Miss Happy!!

So it was family day, and I was sick and tired of the snow... so I needed something to cheer me up with the little bit of spare time I had while my kids were playing nicely with their friends.... that's when I dug out my Doodlebug Design .  I saw a sketch that I found online, and loved the design of it... so off I went to create this bright, fun, and happy... and where near the winter blues, that I am sure many of us are feeling!

Makes me want Spring to get here even faster!!! Here are some detailed shots:

A Farewell to Inspiration Elevator...

After some thought and consideration, the time has come to retire Inspiration Elevator. But before we go, we need to hold a big retirement party, so we've invited everyone who's been involved with Inspiration Elevator back for one last reveal, and to our delight most were able to accept! We are so delighted to have so many IE alumni along this month! Thank you to each of you for helping us end our elevator ride with so much fun and creative energy!

This month's challenge is posed by one of IE's co-creators and team admin, Ann.
This month's challenge is simple, but I hope, challenging as well. 
Here's the challenge: Inspiration Elevator launched on May 15, 2012 and at that time, we explained our purpose as, "Welcome to Inspiration Elevator! What a thrilling day! Today is the launch of Inspiration Elevator (IE), a challenge blog created by my dear friend Christa Uttley and me. We chose the name Inspiration Elevator because it is our intent to raise our creativity to heights through challenges issued every month. We want to raise our designs from the ordinary to the extraordinary. We hope you'll join us on our journey!

IE is a group of like minded scrappy friends who want to raise the bar in their own creative process through unique challenges that we issue to each other once a month. These won't be run of the mill challenges and we hope you'll join us each month and be inspired by the creative designs we've created." 
That vision has remained unchanged over the last (almost) 3 years. The challenge this month is to just create - no holds barred. Take some time, or challenge yourself to do it in 1/2 hour if time is tight, but think about what you'd like to create if there were no agenda, no design team requirement. In other words, create for you, and enjoy the process!
We hope you'll take the time to hop through and visit each of our participant's blogs, beginning with our guests, then our current team, and finishing off with our co-founders. Feel free to leave comments and lavish each one with appreciation for all that they each brought to the Inspiration Elevator challenge over the last 3 years!

I am so happy to be back to say a "goodbye" to a great and inspiring challenge blog.  I was thrilled to be asked to join and loved the challenges each month that challenged me creatively! THANK YOU ANN AND CHRISTA for having me... and for asking me back for the goodbye.   Ironically enough, this is a "hello"  for me! Since the fall I had to let go of a lot of scrappy time, which meant giving up my beloved design teams- Canadian Scrapbooker, Doodlebug, and Bella Blvd.  I truly have missed creating and now the tables are FINALLY turning, and I realize how important it is for me to have balance in my life.  Although this is a goodbye, it is hello to the Scrapbooking World again... My first layout that I have created non-design team... just for me :)  So THANK YOU!! Thank you for getting my mojo going again! I look forward to sharing more layouts, cards, and projects now that I will have more time to create!

Now onto my project!  So my challenge was to "just create". I started with what inspired me... and usually its always the photos.  I don't seem to take as many photos now that all three of my kids are in school, but I took these photos of Taylor before school started for my Valentines Day photoshoot with the Daycare Kiddos. Next up... what to use... for some reason Taylor and Doodlebug seem to go hand in hand! Although it's not their newest collection (still need the new one!)... I had plenty of an older collection to make it super cute!! It felt so good to create and just do my thing....  Here is the layout I made:

September & Catch up...

HAPPY SEPTEMBER EVERYONE!!!

Well, I FINALLY got a laptop, so I thought there would be less struggle with getting posts, editing etc.... and in time it will be awesome... but the last couple of days I have completely struggled with learning everything new on here... Phew... something that usually would take me 15 minutes too, would take a couple of hours.  Hopefully now I have most of programs in place and writing up blog posts are going to be an absolute breeze now?!  Right?!a

So where did August go?  For me it meant that I busy  in the thick of things with the kids.  Taryn was away for a MONTH... yes, I said a MONTH... and it was super hard... not much got done on the scrappy table with daycare being run at full blast this summer.  The kids were involved in camps, and we even got away to Toronto to visit some family.  All in all not very relaxing, but it was still a summer.

Now, in 24 hours, two of my kids will be back at school (YES I AM THE MOM THAT WILL BE JUMPING UP AND DOWN!).... they are ready for some routine, and I am sure more pure craziness.  My biggest change this year will be little miss Taylor.  She is heading off to Kindergarten full time as of Friday. I know she is ready, but am I??  In some ways yes... I can't wait... listening to her cute and sometime too much of a loud, happy, squeaky chipmunk voice all day, every day, is enough to leave me a splitting headache.... but to know your last is gone... breaks my heart... no more afternoon cuddles... So stay tuned as the week unravels!

A week or so ago, I was up on the Doodlebug Design blog, and now that our computer issues are fixed, I can get posting and play catch up with you all!

.We were to be inspired by a project that was previously done on the Doodlebug Pinterest page... I chose the brilliant Melinda Spinks!  Here is what I came up with:

I loved how she kept the colors in four spots in the circle, and to make this technique work for me I decided to go for a square and then use the colors in the photo to blend it all together.

I used a variety of embellishments: Stickers, Sprinkles, Buttons, Twine, Washi Tape from a variety of Collection New & Old!  That is my most favorite thing about Doodlebug... the colors of old and new collections can always be combined for something unique, fun and fresh!

Playing Catch Up!

Hello my faithful blog readers! Many of you have probably wondered where I have been over the last few weeks?!  Well it has been extremely busy in the Wilton household.  The end of school is worse than Christmas around here, and with Taryn away working, i get double the load.  So needless to say it has been very tiring, and exhausting :(. For the last two months I have managed to make things work with keeping up with design team assignments and family commitments and chores, kids activities.... and yes the list goes on, so something had to give.  Family always comes first, but I now have a bit of breathing room to play catch up with you all over the next couple weeks or so!

I have been creating up a storm lately and some of my most favourite projects have been posted up on the manufacturing blogs! Today I wanted to share with you one of my fav's ! Playing with VELLUM! Yes, I am a big chicken when it comes to playing with this... BUT i dove in, and I LOVED the result! Here is the layout I created:

Little Red Wagon #236

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Today is Little Red Wagons Challenge Reveal and its a good one!!! Today's challenge is all about DOTS... I tried to do something out of the norm for me, but I didn't like it, so then I stuck to what I like best: Doodlebug!  I decided to use some Polka Dot Washi tape to create a fun birthday card! Here is what I created:

I love this birthday line: Hip Hip Hooray by Doodlebug Design! It is so super cute and so clever! I used some orange polka dot paper for the background and then used the washi tape on the white cardstock! I then added stickers, sprinkles and twine to complete the card (oh yes and the googley eyes!)

Simply Put Sugar Shoppe Pages with Doodlebug Design

So this past weekend has been a bit of a disaster.... Water heater breaking, Windshield wiper flying off the van, taylor getting sick... and more! Not even a lot to share scrappy wise... but SOME GOOD NEWS is on its way... and I can't share too much yet, but stay tuned!

This week there is a lot to be happy for! Some new and fresh layouts to share with you, my HUSBAND is coming home (YIPPEE!!!!)...  in fact he should be here in a couple of hours now, which means a day off for me at some point!  

Yesterday it was my day up on the Doodlebug Blog, and I was excited to share an idea that I had... with the simply put cards, I created two fun double pocket page spreads that I am going to use for a birthday album! I use to just add birthday layouts to my kids album, but to see the progression each year would be super fun!  So here is the layouts I did for my daughter, Jordan's 7th birthday party:

Hip Hip Hoorary for Doodlebug!

This past week has been an absolute crazy one for our family! In less than 5 days we found out after my husband had his surgery that he was going to be flying out to McLean Lake in Saskatchewan to work... What a shocker to the family dynamics! We busily got stuff ready for him, and stocked up on things here for me, as its not the easiest for me to run to the store for stuff.  He left early Wednesday morning and the kids have been okay... it will be a huge  adjustment for our family!

Now on to some scrappy news! I took a couple days off of scrapping all together, in order to get things in order, and now I hope to settle back into a routine again!  Last week I had a layout up on the Doodlebug Design blog with one of their new collections that they released: Hip Hip Hooray!  LOVE the bright colours in this collection and who can resist those cute little monsters and robots! This collection was perfect for showcasing my son's 2 nd birthday.
